CLIC Book Delivery Website Mock Up

City Library Information Center (CLIC) Book Delivery Website

CLIC Book Delivery Website helps book readers borrow a book and deliver it through the website.

Project Duration: September 2022 to December 2022
My Role: UX designer designing the CLIC Book Delivery Website from conception to delivery.
Tools Used: Figma, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop
Responsibilities: Designing the logo, conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, create sticker sheet for both mobile and desktop orientation, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, and iterating on designs.

The Problem:

The Davao City Library is the only public library in the downtown area. The library caters to students and readers, but due to COVID, the capacity of libraries is now limited. Lines are clearly seen outside the library during peak hours.

The Goal:

To design a responsive website that lets readers borrow a book and delivers the book right at their doorstep to minimize contact and avoid traffic congestion through efficient delivery system.

User Research: Summary

I conducted interviews and created empathy maps to understand the users I was designing for and their needs. A primary user group identified through research were students and busy working adults who read books for research and leisure.

COVID affected most of the establishments, including the seating capacity of the city library catering to a city with a population of 2.33 million, which makes it difficult for students and busy professionals to secure a reading spot or borrow a book.

User Research: Painpoints

Availability

Due to the high volume of readers, some books are difficult to borrow.

Capacity

The city library serves thousands of book readers within the downtown vicinity, which is why long lines are visible on the façade of the library.

Convenience

Readers need to line up and physically check the availability of books.

Personas

Jireh Marc

Jireh Marc is a freelance Graphic Designer who wants to conveniently borrow books from the city library because the library is often overbooked, and the worsening traffic makes it even more difficult.

Mihmih C.

Mihmih is a busy operations manager who needs to borrow a book without going to the library, which is 20 minutes away from the office because she wants to avoid the traffic jam.

Karen L.

Karen is a PLHIV who loves reading books and wants to borrow books with the least contact possible because she is immunocompromised.
